Green Gorilla™ Scores an “A” in Center for Food Safety’s Hemp Scorecard
Green Gorilla™ is one of the few companies to clearly and openly convey information about our production practices to consumers in a market crowded with confusing, potentially dangerous, and mislabeled products. From seed to shelf, we are committed to the highest quality products to ensure health and wellness for people, pets, equine animals, and the environment.
CENTER FOR FOOD SAFETY’S (CFS) “Hemp Scorecard” evaluates many of the top hemp producers on their production and processing methods, testing protocols, and transparency to consumers. Of the forty companies evaluated, only four scored an “A.” Green Gorilla™ is among those four to receive a perfect grade “A” score. Nearly half of the companies received a “D” or an “F.” Ten of those companies scored an “F.”
Center for Food Safety (CFS) is a national non-profit public interest and environmental advocacy organization working to protect human health and the environment by curbing the use of harmful food production technologies and by promoting organic and other forms of sustainable agriculture. CFS also educates consumers concerning the definition of organic food and products.
METHODOLOGY & SCORING CRITERIA
Survey results and independent research were used to create an industry scorecard.
CFS evaluated forty hemp companies to compare product policies and practices regarding three categories:
- Hemp Farming and Organic Certification
- Processing
- Testing/ Auditing
When scoring companies, CFS also evaluated:
- How many products are certified organic or made with organic ingredients
- Which products use ethanol/alcohol versus CO2 during processing
- Which companies test for the presence of glyphosate, heavy metals such as lead, and microbiological contaminants
- Which companies are clearly and openly conveying information about their production practices to consumers
Through this report, the Center for Food Safety encourages shoppers of hemp products to use their power in the marketplace by purchasing products that have received high grades and are adhering to the practices recommended in this report.
